So It's the morning, and Charlie still hasn't posted. I personally won't hold it against him, seeing how his account is messed up. But I need these blog points. So I would like to say that the "1" card is a bit meaningless. In a revised edition of the game, we wouldn't need it. Also, after playing your hand, I think the player should have to name the elements in the compound in order to receive points.

So i agree with Michael (about needing points) so I think we could improve the game by betting not just with the anty (dont know if I spelled that right) but betting like an actual poker game.. Texas Hold ém also wouldnt be a bad idea.. You could lay out 3 cards deal 2 bet then flip another card bet then play the last the person with the most ions/numbers used wins the pot.
ReplyDeleteI think that designated compounds should be equivilant to cooresponding cards such as Nacl being a jack and C204- being a king. this way, you could turn it into a game similar to texas holdem poker which i, personally, think is more fun. However, i still liked the idea.
ReplyDeleteI think that it could have been improved by saying how to deal with if people ended up with the same score. That way they wouldn't have to split the up the pot. Maybe something depending on how complex the compound is.
ReplyDeleteThe game was ok but flawed. It seemed to me that all we were doing was adding charges together. (+2 + -2 = 0) If we had to name ions in the compound, what it was made of, then we might be learning while playing, instead of just adding simple numbers.
ReplyDeleteyes i do too i also think that you should only be able to play one compound because if you can play more it was way to easy to rack up the points. i think joe or kyle (being the better poker players) got five every time. also the one cards were pointless and i agree with michael on naming the compounds and like the picture. Good luck on your exams guys
ReplyDeleteThe 1 is filler. It's a free card that guarantees more to your total. I don't have a problem with it.
ReplyDeleteI support naming compounds. Texas Hold 'Em (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Hold_'Em) sounds like a good idea. I felt like the rounds were spending too much time on the dealing and very little time spent on forming compounds, so dealing fewer cards could speed the game up.
I think if the game could be made into a chemistry Texas Hold em, it would be more enjoyable. If we used less cards and made suits using charges then it would make it feel like your playing cards. The way we played thursday felt like i was just adding numbers
ReplyDeleteWe should increase the ante to two pieces of candy rather than one.
